Job Description
Be part of something bigger at [Employer hidden]! We’re looking for a passionate and driven Shipping Operator to join our Distribution Centre in Speke, Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity to join our high-performance distribution and logistics team, a team that plays a vital role in keeping over 750 stores stocked and ready to serve our 4 million customers every week.
What you’ll be doing
As a Shipping Operator, you will be supporting our Logistics Manager by planning and coordinating shipping activity. This role focuses on overseeing the allocation of shipping spaces, reviewing freight invoices and ensuring forecasts provided to the business are accurate and reliable. This is an operational role, requiring strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to work with multiple teams, both in the DC and in external partners.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Oversee and check all invoicing related to freight, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies
- Liaise with Logistics Manager to ensure shipping allocations meet business demand and available space onboard vessels
- Produce and maintain shipping forecasts, providing accurate and up-to-date information to the wider business
- Liaise with shipping lines and internal stakeholders to support effective shipping planning
- Provide cover for the Imports Stock Controller when required
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
What we’re looking for
We’re after someone who has a high level of organisation. You should be able to communicate effectively with both internal and external teams, whilst maintaining accurate forecasts. Full training will be given, however a good base knowledge is advantageous.
You’ll need to have:
- Merchandising or Supply Chain experience is preferred, but not essential
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
- Strong attention to detail – your work will be used around the DC!
- Confident communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Proactive approach and willingness to learn.
- An understanding of Excel, Nova, Power BI or SCP would be an advantage.
