HGV Maintenance Fitter

Location: West Thurrock

Salary: £23.37 per hour Plus overtime rates

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: 42 hours per week (shift pattern between 06:00 – 19:00)

Job Description

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Maintenance Fitter to join a busy and well-established vehicle workshop within the chemical industry.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected company operating a modern fleet of HGV vehicles and trailers.

You will play a key role in ensuring the fleet remains compliant, roadworthy, and safe for delivering products to loyal customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and inspect HGV vehicles and trailers to VOSA standards
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
  • Carry out routine servicing and repairs including brakes, gearboxes, and clutches
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns when required
  • Identify and order parts as necessary
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation using the company’s vehicle maintenance system
  • Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standard
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment
  • Adhere to all health and safety requirements, including wearing appropriate PPE

Requirements

  • Proven experience in heavy vehicle maintenance, repair and diagnostics
  • Previous experience working within a busy HGV workshop
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • ADR knowledge and experience (essential)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong understanding of compliance and safety standards

Working Hours & Benefits

  • 42 hours per week on a rotating week-about shift pattern (between 06:00 – 19:00)
  • £23.37 per hour
  • Overtime Monday to Saturday paid at time and a half
  • Overtime Sunday paid at double time
  • 25 days holiday per annum
