Course Description
This IPAF accredited full-day course provides comprehensive training for operating Mobile Vertical lifts (Scissor Lifts) and Mobile Booms (Cherry Pickers). It includes classroom tutorials on safety regulations, theory assessment, practical training, and a practical assessment. Successful candidates receive a PAL (Powered Access Licence) valid for 5 years, accessible via the IPAF ePAL app.
Course Components
- Classroom tutorials: Learn industry best practices, health and safety regulations, working at heights, accident control, and PPE.
- Theory assessment: Paper-based theory test prior to practical assessment.
- Practical training: Hands-on experience operating and performing daily maintenance on machines, selecting the right machine, inspecting MEWPs, and PPE best practices.
- Practical Assessment: Assessed on machine inspection, manoeuvre performance, and hazard identification.
Requirements
Delegates must bring standard PPE (safety boots, hi-vis vest, hard hat). For category 3b training, a harness with a short adjustable lanyard is also required. IPAF strongly recommends harness use for boom lifts. Delegates bringing their own harness/lanyard must show a 12-month inspection certificate.
