Course Description
This IPAF accredited course instructs an operator on how to prepare and safely operate Mobile Vertical lifts [(Scissor Lifts)](https://www.starplatforms.co.uk/hire/scissor-lift-hire) and Mobile Booms [(Cherry Pickers)](https://www.starplatforms.co.uk/hire/cherry-picker-hire). Successful trainees receive a PAL (Powered Access Licence), a safety guide, a logbook and a certificate which is accessible via [IPAF ePAL](https://www.ipaf.org/en-gb/resource-library/ipafs-free-epal-app) (a digital app that stores and shares your IPAF powered access licences and qualifications). The ePAL Card is issued by IPAF (the International Powered Access Federation) and is valid for 5 years.
Note: This is a Covid-secure course. It is a mixture of eLearning and theory test in advance (approx. 3 hours to complete), followed by a half-day session at our training centre for practical training and assessment.
The eLearning module will be distributed to delegates within 24 hours of booking (during office hours Mon-Fri). Delegates must complete and pass the eLearning theory & test before attending the practical session.
eLearning Module Details
Delegates can complete the eLearning at their own pace and may save and resume at any time. The device used requires a webcam or front-facing camera for facial recognition during the online test. Course material is available in multiple languages.
Practical Training & Assessment
Practical training, practice and assessment will take place at our training centre on the date/time shown.
Delegates should bring the following safety equipment on the day of the practical training:
- Standard PPE (safety boots, hi-vis vest, hard hat).
- For category 3b training (boom/cherry picker): A harness with a short adjustable lanyard is also required. IPAF strongly recommends the use of a harness & short adjustable lanyard when operating boom lifts.
A 25% discount on an [IPAF approved full harness & lanyard kit](https://www.starplatforms.co.uk/training-extras/ipaf-approved-safety-harness-kit) is available when purchased with any training course booking.
Note: Delegates bringing their own harness/lanyard must show a 12-month inspection certificate; otherwise, it cannot be used.
