About the course

The essential, one-day online course for those who plan, supervise and manage the use of mobile elevating work platforms in the workplace.

Companies that use MEWPs need to know what their management responsibilities are – and what their legal responsibilities are.

IPAFs MEWPs for Managers training course covers what managers need to know for the safe and effective use of MEWPs on site, including planning the job, conducting a risk assessment, selecting the right equipment for optimum cost-efficiency and mitigating all possible risks.

Under UK health and safety legislation, specifically, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Work at Height Regulations 2005, employers must train all employees who plan, supervise and manage work at height and the use of equipment for such work.

Who should take this course?

• Employers, project managers, foremen and supervisors working in a broad range of industries such as construction, facilities management, retail, airports and arboriculture.
• Anyone who is responsible for planning and overseeing the use of MEWPs on their job site.

Qualification

This course is about planning, supervising and managing the use of MEWPs, and not about operating equipment. It ends with an online test that candidates must pass. Upon successful completion of the theory test, candidates will receive a digital IPAF certificate.

Successful trainees receive a PAL (Powered Access Licence) which is accessible via IPAF ePAL (a digital app that stores and shares your IPAF powered access licences and qualifications). The ePAL Card is issued by IPAF (the International Powered Access Federation) and is valid for 5 years. Requirements

• The training should be conducted on a desktop PC, laptop or large tablet (NOT a mobile phone) with appropriate internet access
• The device must have a camera enabled, as facial recognition will be used throughout
• In line with the above you agree to being photographed for facial recognition
• You must undertake the training alone. If the camera picks up a different or additional face, then the training may cease
