Job Details

A leading UK law firm is seeking an Associate to join its highly regarded Planning & Infrastructure team in Scotland. Based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, this role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile and complex matters across the energy and utilities, real estate and transport sectors.

The role:

  • Advising on planning law and infrastructure consenting regimes in Scotland and the wider UK
  • Supporting major development and infrastructure projects, including energy and transport schemes
  • Drafting and negotiating planning obligations and related agreements
  • Advising on environmental, EIA, biodiversity and sustainability matters
  • Supporting planning appeals, inquiries and judicial review proceedings
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across real estate, projects, corporate and finance teams
  • Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development

Experience:

  • Scots law qualified (or dual qualified), ideally NQ-3 years’ PQE
  • Experience or strong interest in planning and infrastructure consenting
  • Backgrounds in planning, real estate, public sector, disputes or in-house desirable, including energy or government environments
  • Ability to confidently draft legally effective documents reflecting client instructions
  • Keen to develop legal skillset and continuous learning
