Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective food technology lessons in line with the school curriculum.
  • Teach students about food and nutrition, food science, culinary arts, and the basics of cooking and baking.
  • Teach students how to plan, prepare, and cook a variety of dishes and meals.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students through regular assessment and feedback.
  • Develop and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom and kitchen.
  • Ensure that all health and safety regulations and procedures are followed in the kitchen and classroom.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Provide extra support to students who are struggling and challenge those who are excelling.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
  • Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of school policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Relevant teaching qualification and certification.
  • Strong knowledge of food technology curriculum and teaching methodologies.
  • Experience in teaching and working in a commercial kitchen setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • A patient and supportive approach to teaching.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into the classroom.
