FULL DESCRIPTION

Print & Finishing Manager

As a key member of our operational team, you will be responsible for the Safety, Quality, Delivery and Performance of the Print & Finishing Departments. You will ensure our processes, people and production standards align with the wider site strategy, while fostering a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement. This role requires a hands-on leader who can influence at all levels, drive high performance, and act as a role model for world-class manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies and maintain high standards of safety, hygiene and housekeeping.
  • Lead and implement 5S and world-class manufacturing tools across the department.
  • Drive improvements across departmental KPIs – Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Cash, Employee Engagement and Engineering.
  • Maintain and develop Quality standards, ensuring all products meet internal and external specifications.
  • Lead root cause analysis to continually improve Right First Time and reduce downtime.
  • Work closely with Planning to optimise scheduling and asset efficiency.
  • Implement robust colour management processes and ensure consistency through collaboration with graphic and repro suppliers.
  • Drive a right-first-time approach across pre-press, artwork and ink processes.
  • Lead changeover and tooling optimisation initiatives to reduce downtime (e.g., Blades/Seals).
  • Manage labour levels, authorise overtime and ensure the department meets production plans.
  • Monitor and maintain stock accuracy, contributing to site-wide inventory accuracy above 99%.
  • Reduce waste and identify further improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure planned maintenance and medical cleaning activities are completed in full.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to resolve and prevent breakdowns, elevating site engineering performance.
  • Continuously improve processes, procedures and people capability.
  • Coach, develop and build a strong talent pipeline within the department.
  • Support recruitment, retention and engagement of team members.
  • Work with suppliers and OEMs to standardise processes and introduce modern manufacturing methods.
  • Lead and support cost-saving initiatives and VCI (Value Creation Initiatives) projects across the site.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5+ years experience within FMCG or a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of COSHH and relevant Health & Safety legislation.
  • Proven experience leading teams across multiple assets/machines.
  • Practical understanding of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques.
