Multi-Skilled Operator

Support various manufacturing areas by utilising key skills and knowledge of the full flexographic process (Extrusion, Print, Lamination, Finishing). Operate various machinery on site to suit the business needs and demands by being flexible across multiple processes.

Specific responsibilities:

• Ensure adherence to the Health & Safety Policy
• Maintain a safe working environment and promote a culture of safety
• Suggest improvement to eliminating waste hazards
• Protect Company property entrusted to you
• Only operate equipment for which you have been trained and authorized to use
• Ensure tools and equipment are in good condition. Report any defects to line manager
• Report any incident which could result in personal injury or property damage to manager
• Comply with any risk assessment and safe work system which has been undertaken
• Adhere to all Health & Safety rules

Print:

• Assist on “Make Ready” in a safe and efficient manner: set-up reels, cores, check and assemble gears. Wash down press in preparation for job change, clean and strip plates, and remove cylinders
• Assist Press Operator on Press “Set-Up” as advised
• Load and unload reels as required
• Weigh and record reels. Accurately complete production report in SAP system to ensure correct time recording and product identification
• Control ink viscosities, monitoring on a regular basis
• Assist Press Operator to print within specification on production run. Monitor web scanner for defects
• Carry out process inspection checks to ensure product meets specification
• Assist on all printing presses

Lamination:

• Select film, materials and operating supplies in accordance with job specification
• Carry out job set-up in a safe and efficient manner
• Carry out process inspection checks to ensure product meets specifications
• Unload and record product. Palletise / package product in accordance with internal / customer requirements (where applicable)
• Accurately complete production reports in Mills/S4 systems to ensure correct time recording and product identification
• Keep machine and surrounding area safe, clean and tidy
• Monitor machine operation and problem solve where necessary
• Inform maintenance of any work required to prevent breakdowns
• Rework non-conforming product where required.

Finishing:

• Select film, materials and operating supplies in accordance with job specification
• Carry out job set-up in a safe and efficient manner
• Carry out process inspection checks to ensure product meets specifications
• Unload and record product. Palletise / package product in accordance with internal / customer requirements (where applicable)

Health, Safety, Environmental Responsibilities

• Be familiar with the Health and Safety Policy and to implement it always
• Develop a concern for Health & safety personally and for others, particularly new employees, contractors and visitors
• Avoid improvising
• Suggest ways of eliminating hazards
• Co-operate with the Company in maintaining a safe working environment and make your contribution to reducing accidents
• Take care of Company property entrusted to you, refrain from horseplay, the abuse of welfare facilities and the misuse of equipment
• Operate only items of equipment for which you have been trained, deemed competent and authorised to use
• Keep tools and equipment in good condition
• Report to your Line Manager any defects in equipment. Ensure that equipment is in a safe and secure state when unattended
• Report any industrial injury, industrial disease, or any incidents which could result in personal injury or property damage, to your Operations Manager
• Comply with any risk assessments and safe system of work which have been undertaken
• Obey company Health & Safety rules
• Set a personal example

Key Skills, Knowledge & Competencies:

Education

• Completed FIA E-Learning Module

Experience

• 3 Years + FMCG Operation experience
• Machine Operation 5+ Years
• Proven knowledge of COSHH and relevant H&S regulations
• Worked on multiple flexographic processes
