Job Introduction

About the role

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for supporting the UK Financial Controller and a wider finance team in the maintenance and preparation of the UK EPI site’s financial reporting information.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support the management of the UK EPI site’s underlying accounting records, general ledger and associated accounting systems for SW sites.
  • Support the UK Financial Controller with annual budgets and monthly financial forecasts, the preparation of monthly financial reporting packs for UK sites
  • Compliance with all UK, IFRS and UK taxation regulatory requirements (financial and tax)
  • Support the annual financial audit with the preparation of deliverables
  • Support the creation and refinement of financial policies and procedures to improve operational workflows
  • Maintain Fixed Asset Register, including Fixed Asset Counts and depreciation
  • Responsible for recording R&D activity and expenditure accurately
  • Meet monthly financial deadlines consistently and efficiently
  • Maintain internal controls, systems and financial processes by documenting and following procedures
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledgers by performing checks for transaction accuracy and completeness
  • Provide ad-hoc financial reporting information to UK sites and functional management teams such as supplier/customer or inventory history.
  • Collaborate with shared services to support transactional finance activity
  • Support project managers with the preparation of project claim submissions to government agencies such as Innovate UK.
  • Support of ONS Survey submissions UK Census Bureau Surveys
  • Preparation of routine and ad-hoc analyses as required
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations including (but not limited to) fixed assets, prepayments and R&D tax receivable
  • Manage inter company balances including the netting down and agreeing balances at month end with all sites
  • Support the UK Financial Controller with the preparation of annual budgets
  • Support UK Financial Controller with preparation of deliverables and samples for the annual financial audit
  • Conduct annual fixed asset count

About you

Demonstrated experience in a related role

Ability to build effective working relationships with all stakeholders

Excellent organisation and communication skills, ability to work to tight deadlines with strong attention to detail

Willing to challenge the status quo and generate ideas for improvement

High level of IT literacy, especially excel, skilled in use of accounting software (Microsoft NAV is a plus)

Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S.) Or Accounting Qualification or Qualified by experience
