Maintenance technician

Role Summary

As a Technician within the Facilities function, you will embrace working as a team and have a strong will to succeed. You will undertake responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance of production machinery predominantly within the Textiles area. The role will also require crossing over to the metals area and will also include the upkeep of the site and buildings by reacting to general Maintenance requests together with complying with Legislation and any other ad-hoc requests defined by the Facilities Manager.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Time proven Experience within Textiles machine sewing/cutting Production Maintenance (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of an array of sewing machines within the heavy Textiles industry (Preferred)
  • Knowledge in CNC auto sewing machines with the ability to create/generate programmes
  • Time served mechanical background
  • IT literate using Microsoft office
  • Good general communication and interpersonal skills, Effective Communicator
  • Miscellaneous admin duties
  • Needs to be IT literate.
  • Carry out routine Preventative maintenance inspections and maintain records of the production equipment
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise workload. Liaise with external contractors/suppliers to identify and overcome problems.
  • Experience of buildings maintenance and general repairs
  • An understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act
  • A basic understanding of what is required to comply with Environmental Legislation

CRITICAL Skills REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Proven background of developing strong relationship with suppliers to achieve optimum results
  • Determined character, with the ability to achieve objectives and have a results orientated approach
  • High standard of numeracy skills
  • Proactive approach to problem solving

ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 18th Edition Electrical certificate
  • NEBOSH General certificate
  • Fork Truck licence

  • Must be willing to travel to our other site in Letchworth.
