About the role:

As a Senior Quality Engineer within [Employer hidden] Power Products – Transmissions, you will play a key role in driving quality excellence across products and processes. You will act as a quality champion, promoting high standards of Health & Safety, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring robust quality systems are applied throughout the operation. This is a leadership role with responsibility for people, processes, and performance, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver right first time outcomes.

What does this role involve day to day?

  • Leading and supervising Quality staff, ensuring clear direction, support, and development
  • Promoting and enforcing Health & Safety standards at all times, including PPE compliance
  • Driving continuous improvement behaviour across teams and processes
  • Managing internal and external quality issues using structured problem-solving tools (e.g. 8D, 4C)
  • Overseeing component rejections and quarantine areas, ensuring containment and corrective actions
  • Monitoring and improving key quality measures, including:
  • Faults at machine test
  • Right First Time performance
  • Warranty performance
  • Supplier quality performance
  • Supporting Quality Improvement activities across manufacturing and supply chain
  • Liaising with other departments on quality-related topics to ensure aligned solutions
  • Ensuring Quality functions and systems are completed effectively and on time
  • Conducting personnel appraisals, maintaining skills matrices, and supporting team development
  • Managing time and attendance for the Quality team, including return-to-work interviews
  • Maintaining accurate quality records and effective use of IT systems and processes

This will be suited to you if…

  • You hold a preferred HNC or Degree in an engineering discipline
  • You have at least 5 years’ experience in a Quality Engineering role, ideally within manufacturing
  • You have a strong technical understanding of drawings, measurement techniques, and product/process requirements
  • You are confident using problem-solving and quality tools such as 8D, 4C, FMEA, and root cause analysis
  • You demonstrate strong decision-making skills with a calm, level-headed approach under pressure
  • You are an effective communicator with good spoken and written communication skills
  • You are comfortable leading and working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams
  • You have good IT skills and a solid understanding of quality systems and processes
  • You actively promote Health & Safety and Quality and lead by example at all times
