Job Title: Estimator (Part Time)
Location: Braintree (relocating from Saffron Walden in July 2026)
Employment Type: Part Time Permanent
Shifts: Monday- Friday 12:30 – 16:30

About the Role

The role holder will report to the Commercial Team Leader, and the primary purpose of the job will be to prepare detailed cost estimates for aircraft maintenance repairs and overhauls. Accurately assess labour, parts, tooling, materials, and subcontracted services required for each project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates for aircraft maintenance, repairs and overhauls.
  • Accurately assess labour, parts, tooling, materials, and subcontracted services required for each project.
  • Coordinating with engineers, technicians, and procurement teams to gather necessary technical data and input for accurate cost projections.
  • Reviewing technical work scopes and maintenance requests to ensure the full scope of work is captured in estimates.
  • Ensuring compliance with aviation regulatory standards (FAA, EASA) and internal quality control processes.
  • Acting as the internal contact for the Customer Service Team during the quoting process, addressing any questions, concerns, or clarifications regarding the estimate.
  • Providing clear, concise, and professional proposals, explaining cost breakdowns and any recommended work.
  • Obtaining quotes from vendors and suppliers for materials, parts, and services required for each estimate.
  • Investigating any deviations from the original quote and provide recommendations for cost adjustments if necessary.
  • Assisting in maintaining cost databases and historical data for future reference and estimate accuracy.
  • Reporting on estimate accuracy and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Preparing detailed reports for management summarising estimation processes, project profitability, and variance analysis.

Candidate Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) estimation or similar roles within the aerospace industry.
  • Strong technical understanding of aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working with OEMs, suppliers, and subcontractors in the aviation industry is preferred.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with clients, internal teams, and vendors.
  • Valid UK Right to Work
