Volunteer area: Carbon Garden, Grass Garden & Kitchen Garden. [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] Wednesdays from 8:30am - 3pm (tea break & lunch break included) Volunteer Supervisors: Joe Richomme (Garden Supervisor) & Helena Dove (Botanical Horticulturist, Kews Kitchen Garden)
Outdoor Horticultural Volunteer - Temperate Collections
This role will suit people with the following skills and experience Basic knowledge of gardening and horticulture Experience of contributing to a team Flexible and willing to support where needed Enjoys being outside in nature Is available to volunteer on a regular basis for a minimum period of 12 months. [Employer hidden] has one of the most diverse collections of living plants of any botanic garden in the world. Kew's Horticultural teams work hard to make sure that the displays continue to inspire a life long appreciation of plants and the natural world. The overall purpose of the role is to support Kew's horticulturalists to maintain the gardens to a high standard by helping with basic maintenance tasks. What we expect from you
- To commit to volunteer at least one day per week, expect for periods of holiday etc.
- To attend required volunteer training
- To be reliable and punctual
- To learn about the work of Kew
- To wear volunteer uniform if required for the role
- To demonstrate Kew's Values and follow Kew Volunteer policies and procedures

Volunteer Recruitment Procedure
Volunteer recruitment at Kew happens when a placement becomes available. Volunteer applications will be assessed individually. Where possible we will match the skills, experience and preference of the volunteer with the requirements of the role. If the application is successful we will invite you to an informal recruitment meeting, where you will have the opportunity to learn more about the role. If it is a good fit for you and the organisation, we will induct you as a volunteer and provide you with the necessary training.
