Job Title –  Solar O&M Technician  

Their Purpose – A developer, owner, and operator of solar projects delivering reliable, clean energy across the UK. Their mission is to harness the power of the sun to support a sustainable future by providing affordable renewable energy to communities and businesses nationwide.

Location &, flexibility – Site-based role with nationwide travel. Working away from home Monday to Friday is expected due to the geographical spread of sites.

About the Job:

As a Solar O&M Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of operational solar PV assets. You will play a key role in ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. This is a hands-on technical role suited to someone with strong electrical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to both planned and reactive maintenance requirements. Full training and ongoing development will be provided to support progression within the business.

Daily monitoring of solar plant health via SCADA systems, reviewing alarms and identifying technical issues or underperformance

  • Comply with all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults across solar PV systems, electrical infrastructure, and associated equipment
  • Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance in line with site maintenance schedules
  • Respond to emergency and unscheduled maintenance to minimise asset downtime
  • Complete detailed reports on maintenance activities, repairs, and fault-finding outcomes
  • Ensure site equipment operates safely and efficiently, identifying improvement opportunities
  • Support commissioning activities for new solar PV installations
  • Conduct scheduled monthly inspections and maintain a safe working environment at all times

About you:

  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards
  • Hands-on experience in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of solar PV systems
  • Confident using diagnostic and test equipment
  • Strong understanding of solar PV technology and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of and adherence to electrical safety regulations
  • Able to quickly identify, diagnose, and resolve system faults
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Self-motivated and reliable with a practical, problem-solving approach
  • Full, valid UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK
  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, Installation, Testing & Inspection or similar (2391 desirable)
  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification
