Torquay

Description

[Employer hidden] longs for each person to discover the gifts God has given them and find joy and purpose in serving God in the calling He has planned for them.  In order to help you do this, we would love to:

  • Help you discern the areas of service in which your experience and giftings may be leading you.
  • Clearly define your role, expectations and responsibilities.
  • Undertake a full induction so you know where things are and what to do.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to help you grow in your giftings.
  • Provide you with a clear reporting structure, including lines of accountability and support when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan the youth and children's sessions in advance, which may include, teaching, games, songs and other activities, as well as being part of the team delivering these sessions.
  • Clearly communicate with the other team members before the sessions and delegate tasks as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all resources, materials and equipment needed for the sessions are in place. (Any materials purchased for the sessions will be reimbursed by Upton Vale in line with the group budget).
  • Organise the setting up and packing away of equipment before and after the sessions.
  • On some occasions take overall responsibility for the running of the sessions.
  • Ensure that all safeguarding requirements are met, including the arrival and leaving of the young people to and from the sessions.
  • Lead and support the other session team members, including receiving and giving healthy feedback on how the sessions went.
  • Attend quarterly meetings with the other session leaders to plan, learn and develop together.
  • Be a supportive part of the wider Youth Team, including regularly praying for the young people and team.

Essential Criteria

You need to like being with young people, children and Jesus! We know it sounds obvious, but it’s the most vital ingredient of the team. You need to believe that young people and children are amazing, spiritual, gifts from God that we have the privilege of ministering to and learning from.

Team player – in both organisations there is the need to work well with others to deliver the programmes, activities and lessons on Sunday and during the week. You will need to be flexible and have an ability to follow the lead of another team member some weeks and to lead the team on other occasions.

You need to understand and be willing to adhere to Upton Vale’s Safeguarding Policy, including having a DBS check done.

You need to love Jesus, and want to share this with the young, people, children, their wider families and schools.

Preferred Criteria

A driver's license is desirable, but not essential.
