About the Role

An established and growing planning consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior to Associate Town Planner to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded planner ideally with some retail town planning experience or an interest in retail town planning to take a leading role in retail-focused projects as well as a variety of other projects in residential, commercial, education and city centre.

Retail planning expertise is central to this position. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality retail planning advice across a range of instructions, including:

  • Preparation of development plan evidence base documents for both public and private sector clients
  • Retail needs assessments
  • Retail impact assessments
  • Sequential site assessments

In addition to retail work, there will be opportunities to support projects across a wider sector portfolio, including strategic land promotion, regeneration schemes, reserved matters applications, and specialist residential sectors.

This role offers flexibility in level, depending on experience, and would suit either a retail-focused Senior Planner or a more experienced planner seeking to concentrate more heavily on retail planning work.

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in retail planning
  • Experience contributing to development plan evidence base work
  • A strong track record in preparing retail needs, impact and sequential assessments
  • Strong analytical capability and confidence working with data
  • Advanced Excel skills (essential)
  • A sound understanding of the economic principles underpinning retail planning
  • Clear and confident written communication skills

What Our Client Offers:

  • Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses.
  • Clear pathways for career advancement to the next level and beyond.
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment.
  • Exposure to diverse and impactful planning projects.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare and pension.
