[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a Complex Paralegal to join their Property Risks and Coverage L&CL team in Bolton. The role involves assisting lawyers with complex property damage claims, including legal research, document management, and communication with clients and experts. The position offers opportunities for career progression and experience in high-profile cases.
Key Accountabilities
The team deals with all aspects of a L&CL property damage claim, such as advising insurers on and handing indemnity disputes including complaints to the FOS and acting for policyholders to defend liability claims and bring subrogated recoveries. All these types of matters can be complex and information and document heavy. This is an assisting role, and you will not be required to handle a case load in your own right. You will be working on files belonging to the Lead Lawyer/Partner in a L&CL team.
- Chasing documents.
- Collating documents and summarising them for lawyers needed to consider strategy.
- Arranging conferences with the insurer client, expert and counsel.
- Arranging Counsel and other expert attendances.
- Legal research & completing factual/evidential chronologies.
- Where appropriate filing documents at court, diarising Court orders and other critical dates.
- Ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations.
- Dealing with routine correspondence.
- Investigating claims and preparing first draft of an advice.
- Communicating effectively with insurer clients and their policyholders.
- Completing investigations including obtaining fire brigade reports, MID searches, loss adjuster reports and further evidence.
- Liaising with loss adjusters and experts.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- Degree level education and/or Postgraduate.
- An ability to prioritise workload.
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- Ability to work with case management systems.
- The personal skills to deal with competing demands of your team of lawyers.
