Nursery Cook I Kitchen Assistant – Wokingham, Berkshire RG40

Salary: Circa £21,061pa | £13.50ph (Depending on experience and qualifications)

Hours: Monday–Friday | 30 Hours per week | 12:00pm–6:00pm
Contract: Permanent | All year round

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Part-time Nursery Kitchen Assistant / Cook to join a small and friendly nursery in Wokingham, Berkshire (RG40).
The nursery cares for children aged 3 months to 5 years and offers a bespoke, nurturing environment that values strong parent partnerships, outdoor learning, and high-quality early years education.

This role is ideal for a caring and creative individual who enjoys preparing nutritious meals and supporting a busy nursery environment. You will be responsible for planning menus, cooking daily meals, and ensuring all dietary needs and allergies are met.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals for children
  • Plan menus in line with dietary requirements and allergies
  • Support supervision and room cover during staff break times
  • Carry out laundry duties
  • Complete general housekeeping tasks, including cleaning and tidying kitchen and communal areas
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, health and safety at all times

About You

• Minimum 1 year experience as a nursery or school cook / lunch assistant
• Proven experience managing dietary requirements and food allergies
• Highly organised and able to work independently
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a nursery team
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
• Eligible to work in the UK
