Fire Door Inspections – Maintenance vs Independent

However, it’s important to note:

• Our inspections are not classed as “independent” under BM TRADA definitions, as we are also certified to carry out remedial works.
• If your requirements include third-party or impartial verification (e.g. for audits, legal proceedings, or insurance), we recommend instructing a separate independent inspector with no involvement in installation or maintenance.

During the Architrave Survey, our trained assessors check for:

• Correct and continuous fire stopping between the frame and surrounding structure
• Proper sealing around door edges
• Any gaps, voids, or incomplete fire stopping
• Evidence of damage or modifications that could compromise fire performance
• Overall compliance with BS 8214:2016 standards
