The programme analyses global defence and security affairs. Its major print and online output is the IISS flagship publication *The Military Balance* and the *Military Balance+* electronic database, widely regarded as the global benchmark in the assessment of national military capabilities and defence economics.

Hours: Full-time
The [Employer hidden] is looking to recruit an Administrator and Research Assistant to work for the IISS Defence and Military Analysis Programme (DMAP). The programme analyses global defence and security affairs. Its major print and online output is the IISS flagship publication *The Military Balance* and the *Military Balance+* electronic database, widely regarded as the global benchmark in the assessment of national military capabilities and defence economics.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the Head of the Defence and Military Analysis Programme and to the Director for Defence and Technology, including organising meetings, travel management and liaison with internal and external contacts.
- Assist in DMAP research support for the economics and procurement team, working on information gathering and assessment for data input.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to other staff in the Defence and Military Analysis Programme, working with other teams including Editorial Services, Events, and IT.
Requirements:
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject such as strategic studies or military affairs, or a background in administration and analysis in the defence sector or specialist publications.
- Experience of administrative duties, such as diary or event management are essential, while experience of research and analysis using open-source information is an advantage.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English. Additional languages desirable.
Remuneration:
This position is for an initial one-year Fixed Term Contract and has potential for renewal by mutual agreement. Salary is based on proven capabilities and experience. More information about working at the IISS can be found here.
