FULL DESCRIPTION

Editorial Assistant

The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is seeking an Editorial Assistant to support the publication of its bimonthly journal, *Survival: Global Politics and Strategy*. Responsibilities include editing, proofreading, fact-checking, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, previous editing experience, and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the publication of the IISS’s bimonthly journal, *Survival: Global Politics and Strategy*, through a range of editorial, research and administrative tasks.
  • Fact-checking, copy-editing and proofreading *Survival* and other IISS publications to House Style (including text, maps and graphics).
  • Acting as graphics coordinator on IISS publications as required.
  • Administrative support for the Head of Editorial Services and the Editorial Services Team as required.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field (minimum).
  • Previous experience editing and proofreading publications or online content (essential).
  • Demonstrably keen eye for detail (essential).
  • Keen to progress a career in publishing.
  • Happy working with data and numbers.
  • An understanding of international affairs or global military issues (advantageous).
