FULL DESCRIPTION
The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is seeking an Advisor to support the IISS Digital Project by conducting preliminary research and analysis on global developments with an initial focus on the geopolitics of cyber and defence economics. This position is suited for individuals with some experience in international affairs and managing related projects.
Responsibilities
- Apply analytical frameworks to real world scenarios including cyber-relevant geopolitical events, defence economic trends and broader security issues to answer questions of strategic relevance for our audience and corporate clients.
- Responsible for the meticulous management of data as it pertains to our core research focus, ensuring its accuracy, relevance, and accessibility. Collaborate with technology teams to innovate and enhance proprietary tools, enabling more efficient data processing and richer analytical insights for client deliverables and strategic decision-making.
- Provide the initial draft of briefs and reports under the guidance of senior team members. Ensure that all materials are accurate, up-to-date, and formatted according to IISS standards.
- Support cross-functional engagement with other IISS departments to integrate and leverage diverse expertise, enhancing the overall quality and impact of the team’s analyses. Attend and contribute to team meetings and brainstorming sessions, ensuring that personal inputs align with team goals and client expectations.
Requirements
- Completion of a master’s degree in a relevant field, or relevant professional experience.
- Experience of research and analysis, and disseminating conclusions in written and verbal forms.
- Experience in using or contributing to database products.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- May have experience researching cyber, emerging technologies, or defence economics and related security issues.
