Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (08:00 – 16:00)

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Waste & Street Cleansing Supervisor to join Rugby Borough Council’s Works Service Unit. This is an urgent requirement providing, ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality environmental services across the borough.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of recycling, refuse, and street cleansing services, ensuring operations run efficiently, on time, and within budget.
  • Organise, supervise, and monitor staff to ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures.
  • Respond to and resolve customer complaints promptly in line with council policies.
  • Liaise effectively with councillors, council officers, and internal departments to maintain service quality.
  • Communicate professionally with members of the public, promoting a positive council image.
  • Monitor operational costs, manage purchasing, and support financial controls.
  • Ensure vehicles and equipment are used safely and maintained correctly.
  • Produce accurate performance and operational data reports.
  • Monitor work quality, team performance, and oversee the use of agency staff.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience supervising operational teams within waste management, street cleansing, or a similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage teams effectively and maintain service standards under pressure.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
