Teaching Assistant – Newcastle

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Newcastle. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed Teaching Assistant to work within a school that prides itself on high expectations, strong pastoral support, and a focus on helping every student achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning as a Teaching Assistant, working with individuals and small groups.
  • Provide targeted support for pupils with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum.
  • As a Teaching Assistant, assist in managing behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Adapt resources and activities to meet the needs of different learners.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to support student progress and wellbeing.
  • Build positive relationships with students to support engagement and confidence.
  • Monitor and report on student progress where required.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting individuals with SEN – essential.
  • A strong understanding of SEND and inclusive practices.
  • A relevant teaching or support qualification – highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong behaviour management and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, patient, and adaptable approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
