Early Years Teaching Assistant – Northumberland

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive early years setting in Northumberland. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner who is committed to creating a nurturing, engaging, and stimulating environment where young children can thrive and develop a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning as an Early Years Teaching Assistant, working with individuals and small groups.
  • Assist in delivering engaging, play-based activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Support children’s communication, language, social, and emotional development.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Observe, assess, and record children’s progress, contributing to planning and next steps.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to support children’s learning and wellbeing.
  • Support children in developing independence and positive behaviour.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A valid Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification – essential.
  • Experience working within an early years setting (nursery or reception).
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to create engaging and supportive learning experiences through play.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
