Who you will be helping

EPEC Parent Group Leaders help families gain the skills to give their children the best start in life.

You will be helping local parents to learn practical communication skills for everyday life and bring up confident and happy children.

The difference you will make

Volunteering at a parenting group makes a big difference to the families attending. You will be supporting parents to connect with themselves, their child, and with other parents.

Your input will allow more parents to attend our groups.

Parenting can be challenging and everyone needs a little help at times. Providing parents with support and guidance can build their knowledge and confidence. This has a positive impact on the parents’ own wellbeing, and on the wellbeing of their child.

Typical tasks within this role:

  • To attend a 10-week Parent Group Leader Training to learn how to deliver the ‘Being a Parent’ programme.
  • To deliver the ‘Being a Parent’ programme to groups of parents over a 9-week period. Supporting them on their parenting journey.
  • To be able to set up and manage weekly parent groups at Family Hubs.
  • Be able to prepare and organise resources for parent training sessions.
  • Be able to support ongoing program monitoring and evaluation with Co-trainers and hub- coordinator.
