Cover Supervisor

About the Role:

An outstanding secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a reliable and adaptable Cover Supervisor to manage classes during teacher absences. This role offers the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise classes across a range of subjects, delivering pre-set work and maintaining high standards of behaviour.
• Ensure a productive and orderly learning environment in the absence of the regular class teacher.
• Support students with their learning, answering questions and keeping them focused on tasks.
• Take registers and follow school policies and procedures consistently.
• Liaise with department staff to ensure continuity of learning.
• Contribute to the wider school community through duties and extracurricular support where appropriate.

About You:

• Previous experience working in a secondary school environment is highly desirable.
• Excellent behaviour management skills and the confidence to lead a classroom.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A flexible and resilient approach — no two days are the same.
• A degree-level qualification is preferred but not essential.
• A genuine interest in education and supporting young people.
