Job Description

Supporting pupils throughout the school day, SEND Teaching Assistants help create calm and structured learning environments. The focus is on providing tailored academic and emotional support, adapting tasks where needed, and helping pupils feel secure and confident in the classroom. Strong communication, patience, and consistency are essential, alongside a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.

  • Supports pupils with SEND in lessons and structured interventions.
  • Works closely with teachers to adapt learning activities.
  • Promotes confidence, independence, and positive behaviour.
  • Maintains safeguarding, care, and wellbeing standards.

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • 1-2 years' experience working with children with SEND NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
  • DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and relevant support strategies
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and the confidence to report concerns
  • A passion for supporting children with SEND, helping them thrive in a nurturing, inclusive environment
