Job Description

Cover Supervisors play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absence. Responsibilities include following pre-set lesson plans, managing behaviour, and supporting pupils to remain focused and on task. Confidence, consistency, and clear communication are essential to maintaining a positive learning environment. Supervises lessons using pre-prepared work and guidance. Manages classroom behaviour and engagement. Supports pupils during independent learning tasks. Reports feedback and concerns to teaching staff.

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Experience working in a secondary classroom environment (cover supervision, teaching assistant or equivalent)
  • Excellent behaviour‑management skills and presence when leading a class
  • Flexibility and confidence to adapt to varied school settings and subject areas Ideally a subject specialism (e.g., science, geography) preferred
  • Strong communication and organisational abilities
