Job Description

A supportive Secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a Behaviour Mentor to work with pupils whose behaviour can impact their engagement with learning. You’ll support students who benefit from consistent relationships, clear boundaries, and calm guidance during challenging moments. Your role will involve providing 1:1 mentoring, supporting pupils following behavioural incidents, and helping them re-integrate into lessons positively. Some pupils may struggle with emotional regulation or impulsivity; others benefit from structured reflection and reassurance to reset and move forward. You’ll help pupils understand expectations while maintaining respect and trust. Working closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff, and safeguarding teams, you’ll contribute to a relationship-led behaviour approach focused on long-term improvement rather than short-term compliance. This role suits someone steady, emotionally intelligent, and confident supporting young people through challenge. Provide behaviour-focused mentoring and support. Support pupils during and after challenging incidents. Facilitate calm reflection and reintegration into lessons. Work collaboratively with pastoral and teaching teams.
