FULL DESCRIPTION

Job Description

A specialist SEND school in Coventry is seeking an Academic Support Assistant to help pupils access learning with clarity, structure, and reassurance. You’ll support children whose progress may be affected by processing speed, confidence, or difficulty applying learning independently. Your role will include providing in-class academic support, reinforcing key concepts, and helping pupils organise tasks in a way that feels manageable. Some pupils benefit from repetition and modelling; others need learning broken into clear, sequential steps to support understanding. You’ll help pupils stay engaged without pressure, supporting progress at a pace that works for them. Working closely with teachers and the wider SEND team, you’ll contribute to personalised learning strategies that prioritise understanding, confidence, and independence. This role suits someone patient, organised, and motivated by helping pupils make sense of learning and feel capable in the classroom. Provide academic-focused support during lessons. Reinforce learning objectives and key concepts. Support organisation, focus, and task completion. Work collaboratively with teachers and SEND staff.

Desired Experience + Qualifications

- Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional needs. - Clear, structured communication style. - Confidence supporting academic learning strategies. - Strong safeguarding awareness and consistent practice.
