[Employer hidden] is currently seeking 4 foundation governors to join their governing body.

In addition to being full members of the governing body, foundation governors have a particular role in ensuring that the school upholds its distinctive Christian ethos. These vacancies must be filled by community members who feel that they could work to develop the foundation ethos of the school. *(Ideally, foundation governors should be members of the local CofE parish or have an affiliation to one of the other churches locally. This can be stated clearly or left open to discussion, depending on circumstances).*

There are immediate and lasting benefits to becoming a school governor. In volunteering your time, you are making a positive contribution to the success of the school as well as having an impact on the lives of its pupils, staff and the local community. The role can also really help you to develop your own skills and understanding.

The role of a school governing body is:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and direction of the school.
  • Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

No one governor is expected to know it all! The strength of a governing body lies in its ability to attract and rely upon members from a wide variety of backgrounds, share out duties amongst its members and be able to take decisions as a group.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the role is warmly invited to contact the school office on [contact hidden] to arrange an informal chat with the Chair of Governors, Jacqui Stanford.
