[Employer hidden] seeks to appoint a Director of Wellbeing to lead on the wellbeing of pupils and staff at one of the world’s most renowned specialist music schools. The position would suit those with a career in education or mental health and the post holder will be a key member of the school’s Leadership Team.

Job Specification/Key Areas of Responsibility

  • • Fulfil the role of the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. 
  • • Lead on pastoral matters and student voice.
  • • Deliver the school’s PSHE/RSE curriculum. 
  • • Develop the staff wellbeing programme.
  • • Manage the wellbeing team of School Nurse, Counsellor and Tutors. 
  • • Work with outside agencies to safeguard pupils’ wellbeing. 

Duties listed are not exhaustive; all members of staff are expected to undertake duties reasonably required by the Head.

Key Personal Specifications

  • • Experience in working with young people in pastoral and mental health issues. 
  • • Appreciation of the particular emotional health needs of young artists.
  • • Deep knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and compliance matters. 
  • • Compassion, empathy, kindness, patience and humour. 
  • • Excellent organisational skills and a meticulous eye for detail. 
  • • Cultural sensitivity and inclusivity, valuing diversity within an international school setting. 
  • • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with pupils, staff and families. 
  • • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in pastoral care, education, social work, counselling or other related field. 
  • • Evidence of ongoing professional development related to student wellbeing and mental health. 
  • • Delight in teamwork and love of collaboration and community. 
  • • Unwavering professionalism and respect for confidentiality.

The School is registered with the DBS and successful applicants will be required to complete successfully the Disclosure Procedure at Enhanced level.  It is an offence for a person barred from working with children to apply for this post.
