Senior Graphics Programmer

Role Overview

As a Senior Graphics Programmer you will have 3+ years professional experience with graphics programming in a modern game engine, having worked extensively on rendering techniques, optimisation and content pipelines.

You will engage fully with our engineering processes, participate in code reviews, and support the team in building scalable, maintainable, and performant systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use rendering techniques, optimisation, memory management, and content pipelines to support the development of our games.
  • Work with our team to develop features that address, enhance and achieve the objectives of the game.
  • Deliver and own the technical design and implementation of large-scale rendering features.
  • Participate in Scrum meetings, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Fully own complex systems through design and development, working closely with the game designers and other disciplines to realise their visions.
  • Contribute to improving workflows, tools, and coding standards.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that our games work as intended, free of bugs and exceed the standards that Third Kind, and our clients and players, expect.
  • Take an active role in the mentoring and development of junior staff.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to create innovative solutions for our games.
  • Be capable of working autonomously, gathering your own requirements and creating your own solutions.
  • Have good knowledge of Graphics Programming across all phases of game development, from feature design and implementation to bug-fixing.
  • Have an interest in exploring and implementing new graphics related technologies.
  • Be capable of learning a new language or technology without guidance.
  • Be able to work independently and also as part of a team, whilst knowing when to ask for advice from your colleagues.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years' experience in a similar Graphics Programming role working with C++/C# and HLSL/CG languages.
  • 3+ years’ experience profiling and optimising code for optimal CPU, GPU, memory, and bandwidth usage.
  • Professional experience with Unreal and/or Unity.
  • Proven debugging and critical analysis skills.
  • Proven ability working in a team.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with other engines such as Lumberyard.
  • Experience with working on PC and consoles.
  • Experience with Real-time networked multiplayer games.
  • Interest or experience with generative AI technologies.
