FULL DESCRIPTION

Forklift Engineer

The Forklift Engineer will maintain and service forklift trucks, electric barrow trucks, and hand pallet trucks. They will also support Shift Maintenance Engineers with engineering maintenance and breakdown assistance.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Completing daily checks with forklift and truck operators, supervisors and managers within stores and other areas of usage.
  • Identifying problems and fine-tuning performance using a laptop or hand-held computer.
  • Repairing or replacing faulty parts on forklifts and trucks.
  • Regularly servicing the engines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Test-driving forklifts and trucks and making any necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintaining storage racking and racking systems, and completing repairs in a timely manner to ensure that all racking is in a good safe working condition.
  • Supporting Shift Engineers on tasks and providing engineering Maintenance/Breakdown assistance as and when required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Formal engineering qualification to at least City and Guilds level, ONC/HNC level or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of food processing equipment is desirable but not essential.

  • A team player with a strong sense of personal responsibility/ownership and a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Have the ability to work effectively within a factory environment and perform under pressure.

Hours of Work

The hours of work are 45 hours per week, 7.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday inclusive. There will be a requirement for the post holder to be flexible with their working hours to fit with the needs of the business.
