We are the largest privately owned Renault Truck dealership in the UK, with 8 depots spanning the East of England. From Renault and Isuzu new trucks to quality pre-owned trucks, trailers, and vans, Thompsons is a trusted name in the commercial vehicle industry. The role involves conducting routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs, diagnosing faults, and performing electrical repairs.

40 hour per week nights.

Monday - Thursday (10pm-6.30am)

Duties

  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.
  • Perform equipment repair, including the use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Fabricate parts as necessary to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
  • Assemble and disassemble various vehicle components for repairs and inspections.
  • Carry out electrical repairs and maintenance on HGVs as required.
  • Weld components when necessary to ensure structural integrity.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed on vehicles.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their vehicle needs.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in HGV maintenance and repair.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Ability to fabricate parts as needed for repairs or modifications.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
  • Strong customer service skills to interact positively with clients and understand their needs.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail to ensure all work meets safety standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • C&G, NVQ 3 or equivalent
  • HGV Technician : 3 years
  • Time-served Technicians also considered
