The role involves structural and vibration testing, operating measurement systems, and other related activities. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a keen interest in engineering and have a NC or HNC in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

We are currently looking for engineers and scientists to work within our Applied Science engineering and delivery team based at our Dalgety Bay office.
As an apprentice with the [Employer hidden] team you are joining a world-industry leading engineering consultancy. You will be provided with training and support to develop valuable skills and earn qualifications to establish yourself as a valued member of the Test & Evaluation team.
The programme will follow the Apprenticeship Framework attending college as required, whilst we support you working towards completing a Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering, along with support in achieving an NC or HNC if applicable. You will be able to develop your practical skills within the Test & Evaluation Team while gaining valuable experience in the workplace.
Responsibilities
- Structural and vibration testing on a wide variety of civil and maritime structures.
- Preparation and assistance in the conduct of shock, vibration or seismic tests with a mixture of field test work and laboratory-based tests.
- Set-up and operation of measurement systems, pressure systems and experimental measurement instrumentation.
- Fork-lift Truck operations
- Banks-person/ Slinging operations
- RIB boat operations and maintenance
- General workshop equipment, building and company vehicle maintenance
- Roles include periods of extensive travel and some irregular working hours.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a keen interest in engineering, combining practical skills with theory gained during more formal academic training.
Qualifications
It would be desirable that you have already gained a NC or HNC in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or have completed an NC Pre-apprenticeship course in an Engineering discipline. We will also consider applicants that have already started an apprenticeship which has unexpectedly ended. In addition, we would expect the applicant to be educated to at least National 5s (SCQF Level 5) or Highers including Maths, English and another technical or science subject.
