FULL DESCRIPTION

As a Technical Stores Operative, you will be working from our base in Reading. You will support our Outside Broadcast team and the Ealing Broadcast Centre, preparing and loading equipment for a wide range of television productions. You will be delivering an exceptional service to our clients and vital supporting services to our teams, both onsite, and at other Timeline premises.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Technical Stores Operative, you will be working from our base in Reading. You will support our Outside Broadcast team and the Ealing Broadcast Centre, preparing and loading equipment for a wide range of television productions. You will be delivering an exceptional service to our clients and vital supporting services to our teams, both onsite, and at other Timeline premises.

This role is for 40 hours per week, normally 5x8-hour days Monday-Friday, that may include early and late shifts. Occasionally there may be some weekend and bank holiday shifts as required by our production schedule. You’ll be rostered in advance and days off in lieu will be provided where appropriate.

MAIN DUTIES

  • To maintain the warehouse to a high standard, ensuring work areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • To work collaboratively with OB Project Managers/Unit Managers and Equipment Scheduling Team to ensure tenders are accurately and promptly loaded, equipment is properly scanned out, OB trucks are cleaned and made ready for upcoming work
  • After project completion, ensure that OB trucks and tenders are unloaded, equipment is scanned back in and returned to the warehouse shelves, trucks are cleaned and prepared for the next assignment
  • Inspect all stock and hired equipment before and after each job to ensure kit is complete and in good working order
  • To use initiative to ensure that equipment is suitably boxed during transportation and for storage purposes
  • To be proactive and respond promptly to queries & equipment issues as they arise (very occasionally this may necessitate out of hours attendance at the warehouse, therefore living locally to RG2 would be a benefit).
  • Occasionally drive to our other sites and work locations to deliver kit using our fleet 3.5T vans.
  • To maintain the asset tracking system to ensure all Timeline’s equipment is tracked accurately
  • To be the first point of contact for the engineering teams preparing equipment
  • To manage the effective returning and receiving of external hired equipment
  • Where necessary liaise with engineering and technical managers to find alternative engineering solutions where equipment isn’t available
  • To make sure Timeline’s equipment is maintained in the best condition
  • To assist in building and testing Flyaway/Project set ups.
  • To help install and connect equipment in our fleet of OB trucks

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Good basic, knowledge of broadcasting equipment
  • Good standard of basic IT skills
  • Willing to work flexibly and adapt to the demands of a high paced working environment
  • A full UK driving license is essential
  • We use a counterbalance forklift to move equipment in our warehouse, an existing licence to operate this would be a benefit, but training can be provided if required
  • Good knowledge and experience of warehouse operations and asset tracking systems would be a benefit, but not essential
  • A logical approach to problem solving and an ability to prioritise
  • Physically fit and able to lift and handle heavy items of equipment and cable
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills

May include early/late shifts and occassional weekends and bank holidays
