Credit Control Manager

Salary: Up to£45,000pa DOE

Location: East Midlands

Working Style: Hybrid - 4 days in the Office

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will take full ownership of our client’s credit and collections function, driving timely cash collection, managing credit risk and credit insurer relationships, and ensuring robust, efficient end-to-end receivables processes.

This is a hands-on leadership role with real influence, contributing to cash and treasury operations, alongside driving change across resource, processes, and systems with the aim of enhancing efficiencies, strengthening controls, and improving overall performance.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Credit Control & Receivables Management:

  • Lead and manage the Credit Control team to maximise cash collection and minimise overdue debt.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor credit risk policies and procedures.
  • Oversee customer credit assessments, setting and reviewing credit limits.
  • Manage relationships with credit insurers, ensuring appropriate coverage, claims management, and compliance with policy terms.
  • Monitor debtor days, aged debt, and collection performance, producing regular KPIs and reports.
  • Manage escalations and support the resolution of complex debt issues or disputes.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to improve payment performance.
  • Prepare cash collections forecasts to support cash management and forecasting.
  • Management of invoice discounting facility to optimise working capital.

- People & Change Management:

  • Manage, coach, and develop team members to achieve high performance and engagement.
  • Lead change management initiatives, ensuring smooth adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working.
  • Communicate change effectively, providing training and support to build team capability.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture.
  • Build relationships with the wider sales, finance and customer experience teams.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Credit Control Manager within a high-volume transaction based B2B business is essential.
  • Experience managing an invoice discounting facility, receivables functions, with strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Dynamics / Business Central ERP system would be highly beneficial.
  • Experienced decision maker with regards to credit limit and customer risk assessment.
  • Deep knowledge of credit risk management, collections strategies, and dispute resolution.
  • Experience managing relationships with credit insurers, including policy management and claims processes.
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills with ability to interpret and present financial data.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience of change management and implementing/improving finance transaction processes.
