Are you a passionate, QTS-qualified Year 1 teacher looking for your next role in Harrow? This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive Key Stage 1 team where phonics, early reading and a love of learning sit at the heart of every classroom.

About the role

[Employer hidden] is partnering with welcoming, well-organised primary schools across Harrow to find a committed Year 1 Teacher for September 2026. Positions are available on a full-time or part-time basis.

Year 1 is a pivotal transition point between EYFS and Key Stage 1. Schools are looking for teachers who can bring structure, warmth and consistency as children take their first steps into formal learning. You will deliver the Primary National Curriculum with a focus on systematic synthetic phonics, early reading, writing and mathematics.

Planning is often shared across the year group, keeping workload manageable. You will work closely with teaching assistants and SENCO staff to support pupils with SEND and EAL needs, within calm, routines-led classrooms.

What we are looking for

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
  • Proven KS1 classroom experience, ideally in Year 1 or Reception
  • Strong phonics knowledge, including systematic synthetic phonics and the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check
  • Confident behaviour management and positive classroom routines
  • Experience differentiating for SEND, EAL and mixed-ability learners
  • Up-to-date safeguarding and child protection knowledge

Why teachers choose Tradewind

  • Transparent PAYE pay - weekly, with no umbrella companies or hidden deductions
  • Free access to 2,500+ CPD courses through The National College from day one
  • Real local knowledge of Harrow schools and their leadership teams
  • Dedicated consultant support from your first conversation through to the end of your placement
