Graduate Teaching Assistant

Job Description

This well-regarded secondary school is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join them from September. This role has been designed specifically for graduates who are considering a future career in teaching and want to gain high-quality classroom experience before starting a PGCE, School Direct or SCITT route. You will work closely with experienced teachers, supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in both academic and pastoral capacities. The school offers strong mentoring, clear behaviour systems and a supportive staff culture, making this an excellent environment for aspiring teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support students during lessons across a range of subjects
• Provide 1:1 and small group interventions
• Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom routines
• Encourage engagement, confidence and positive behaviour
• Gain exposure to planning, assessment and classroom management

The Ideal Candidate:

• A graduate in any subject discipline
• A clear interest in teacher training or education
• Confident, professional and enthusiastic when working with teenagers
• Experience with young people (tutoring, mentoring, coaching) is desirable but not essential
