Job Description
Are you a trailblazer in outdoor education? We are looking for a passionate, Level 3 Qualified Forest School Lead to join a forward-thinking educational setting in Burnley.
This is not just a "supervision" role; we are looking for an practitioner to design and spearhead an outdoor curriculum that transforms how our students engage with nature. This position begins as a temporary contract with a direct path to a permanent role for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Design: Lead the planning and delivery of high-quality Forest School sessions for various age groups and abilities.
- Skill Instruction: Teach essential outdoor skills including bushcraft, tool use, fire safety, and environmental conservation.
- Holistic Development: Use the "Forest School Approach" to build student self-esteem, emotional resilience, and social collaboration.
- Risk Management: Conduct rigorous daily site risk assessments to ensure a safe learning environment.
- Site Management: Oversee the maintenance and biodiversity of the school's woodland area.
Essential Requirements
- Qualification: Level 3 Forest School Leader award is mandatory.
- First Aid: Valid 16-hour Outdoor First Aid or Paediatric First Aid certificate.
- Experience: Proven track record of leading groups in an outdoor setting, ideally with experience in SEN or SEMH.
- Mindset: A resilient, "all-weather" attitude and a passion for child-led learning.
- Compliance: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or readiness to apply for one).
