Job Description

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a dedicated, resilient PSHE & English Teacher to join a specialist alternative provision in North London, supporting secondary-aged students who are unable to access mainstream education.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for a teacher passionate about re-engaging vulnerable young people and helping them rebuild confidence, resilience, and a positive relationship with learning.

The Role

You will teach students aged 11-16 in small groups, many of whom have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, or disrupted educational backgrounds. A flexible, patient, and relationship-focused approach is essential.

The role combines PSHE leadership with support for English and literacy development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging PSHE lessons covering wellbeing, relationships, personal development, and life skills
  • Support the delivery of English, improving students' reading, writing, and communication skills
  • Plan and adapt differentiated lessons to meet a wide range of needs and abilities
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and personal growth
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to re-engage students in learning
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral staff and support teams to ensure consistent student support

The Ideal Candidate

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

- Experience teaching PSHE, English, or related secondary subjects

- Experience working with SEMH learners, behavioural needs, or in alternative provision (highly desirable)

- Strong behaviour management skills with a calm, consistent approach

- Empathetic, resilient, and committed to supporting young people

- Passionate about both academic progress and personal development

Applicants from mainstream schools, special schools, PRUs, and alternative provisions are all encouraged to apply.
