About the Role:
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students who may be experiencing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams, you will help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with mental health needs
  • Assist in the implementation of personalised support plans
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students
  • Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour and engagement
  • Liaise with SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external professionals where required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable)
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine interest in mental health and education
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Psychology, Counselling, Youth Work) are advantageous but not essential
