[Employer hidden] is currently seeking a committed and compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant to work within a supportive school in Corby.
About the Role:
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students who may be experiencing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams, you will help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with mental health needs
- Assist in the implementation of personalised support plans
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students
- Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour and engagement
- Liaise with SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external professionals where required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable)
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine interest in mental health and education
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Psychology, Counselling, Youth Work) are advantageous but not essential
