Job Description

Cooking Teacher - Secondary School, Northampton Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire Start Date: ASAP or September 2026 Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term or Permanent Salary: Competitive daily rate / MPS-UPS (dependent on experience)

Do you have a passion for cooking and a desire to share practical, hands-on skills with young people? Are you keen to help students build confidence, independence, and creativity through engaging food-based learning?

We are currently supporting a secondary school in Northampton in their search for a Cooking Teacher to join their team as soon as possible or from September 2026. This is a full-time position, with opportunities for long-term cover or a permanent appointment depending on the right candidate.

The Role:

  • Delivering engaging and practical Cooking lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Teaching key skills including food preparation, nutrition, and kitchen safety
  • Maintaining a safe, hygienic, and well-managed practical learning environment
  • Assessing student progress and providing clear, constructive feedback
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum planning and delivery

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or is working towards it
  • Strong knowledge of cooking, nutrition, or a related subject area
  • Confident leading practical, hands-on lessons in a busy classroom environment
  • Strong organisational skills and effective behaviour management strategies
  • Motivated, reliable, and committed to supporting student progress and achievement
  • Previous experience in a secondary school setting is desirable but not essential
