Job Description

A well-regarded secondary school in Waltham Forest is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This opportunity is ideally suited to graduates who are considering a career in teaching and are looking to gain meaningful classroom experience before undertaking a PGCE, School Direct, or SCITT programme.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, contributing to both their academic progress and personal development. The school is known for its supportive leadership, structured behaviour systems, and strong mentoring culture-providing an excellent foundation for those looking to enter the teaching profession.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide in-class support to students across a range of subjects
* Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions
* Assist with lesson preparation and daily classroom routines
* Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and student confidence
* Develop an understanding of planning, assessment, and classroom management

The Ideal Candidate:
* A graduate in any subject area
* A genuine interest in progressing into teaching or education
* Confident, professional, and enthusiastic when working with young people
* Previous experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, coaching) is advantageous but not essential
