Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant (1:1) - Year 5
Full-Time | Immediate Start

Are you a calm, compassionate, and experienced professional with a background in supporting children with challenging behaviour? Do you have experience within SEND settings and strong behaviour management skills? If so, this could be an excellent opportunity to make a real impact.

We are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 5 pupil who presents with significant behavioural needs. This role is highly rewarding and requires consistency, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting both learning and emotional regulation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with complex behavioural needs
  • Implement effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Support the delivery of an individualised learning and behaviour plan
  • Encourage engagement with learning where appropriate
  • Promote a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Record and report on behaviour patterns, progress, and interventions

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working with SEND and/or challenging behaviour
  • Team Teach trained (or willing to complete training)
  • Calm, patient, and consistent under pressure
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Committed to supporting both the emotional and academic development of the pupil
  • Flexible, resilient, and able to respond positively to changing situations
