Head of Technology

The Opportunity

As Head of Tech you will be part Leadership Team, and be responsible for shaping how technology enables [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk]’s creative and commercial ambition.

You will lead and develop the studio’s senior technical leaders, building a high-performing team, bringing cohesion across our games and shared systems while strengthening engineering standards, delivery discipline, and long-term technical health.

This role focuses on building on strong foundations and preparing the studio for its next stage of growth shaping technology decisions that power exceptional player experiences, support sustainable scale, and help us create delightful games where millions of players can flourish.

You will partner closely with Product, Creative, and Operations to balance game ambition with technical sustainability, guiding thoughtful trade-offs across speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.

You will own the studio's technical roadmap, guide our strategic direction, and proactively integrate new technologies and advances to define our future ways of working.

The Day to Day

Lead and Develop Technical Leaders

• Mentor and grow the studio’s senior technical leaders across game and central functions.
• Strengthen leadership capability within engineering, setting clear expectations for quality, accountability, and impact.
• Build succession depth and long-term capability across the function.

Shape Studio-Wide Technical Direction

• Define and evolve the studio’s technical strategy across games, infrastructure, data, and shared platforms.
• Ensure consistent standards where they matter, while preserving team autonomy and creative ownership.
• Guide architectural direction and cross-game alignment through a regular forum of senior technical leaders.

Enable Sustainable Scale

• Oversee studio-level technical investment and budget decisions across tools, platforms, and partnerships.
• Ensure IT and internal systems support productivity, security, and operational resilience.
• Champion a T-shaped engineering culture that combines deep technical excellence with a strong understanding of design, player experience, live operations, AI, and data.

About You

- Deep engineering credibility, particularly within game development, with strong technical judgment and discernment across architecture, systems design, and engineering craft.

- Proven experience leading and scaling engineering teams, building high-performing managers and technical leaders while creating clarity, accountability, and momentum across multiple teams.

- Background in scaling game studios, ideally within mobile F2P or live service environments, with a strong understanding of live operations, player experience, and commercial performance.

- A collaborative leadership approach that partners closely with Product and Creative, enabling game-led decisions while ensuring technical sustainability and execution excellence.

- Track record of developing engineering managers and senior ICs, strengthening leadership capability at every layer and creating succession depth within the organisation.

- Strong operating experience with modern game technology ecosystems, including Unity, PlayFab, cloud infrastructure, data systems, and scalable live-service architecture.
