Student Support Officer
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Student Support Officer to join our educational team. This role involves providing a range of support services to students, addressing their educational, emotional, and social needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of student welfare and the ability to guide students through their academic journey and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Welfare: Provide support and advice to students on a range of issues including academic progress, mental health, and personal problems.
- Guidance and Counselling: Offer counselling sessions for students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their personal and academic goals.
- Programme Development: Develop and implement programmes that enhance student engagement and support, such as workshops, seminars, and peer mentorship programmes.
- Liaison and Advocacy: Act as a liaison between students and faculty, advocating for student needs and facilitating communication.
- Crisis Management: Respond to student emergencies and crises, providing immediate support and coordinating with other professionals as needed.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions with students, monitoring progress and outcomes of support activities.
What We Need from You:
- Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Additional qualifications or training in counselling, mental health first aid, or student services are highly advantageous.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work empathetically with a diverse student population.
- Competency in crisis management and conflict resolution.
- Proficient in programme development and administration.
- Attributes:
- A commitment to student welfare and proactive in addressing student issues.
- Empathetic and confidential in handling sensitive information.
- Resourceful, with the ability to connect students with external support services when necessary.
- Experience:
- Experience working in student support roles within educational institutions.
